[ARTICLE + COMMENT] 'Mischievous' Block B, the reason they were able to make the long run of 7 years

                                                                 

[OSEN = Choi Na-young] The group Block B are in their seventh year of debut as idols. Some people might get shocked after hearing this because people didn’t know that they would last for this long.

Block B, composed of Zico, Taeil, Jaehyo, B-Bomb, P.O, Park Kyung, and U-Kwon, debuted in 2011 with their single album "Do U Wanna B?".

It's the truth that Block B were known as an issue-maker early in their debut days. Their remarks regarding the flood in Thailand blew up, and facing the public criticism Zico shaved his head as a form of apology while P.O was hospitalized due to shock. Since then, they went on a self-reflection period then resume their activities with the release of "Nilili Mambo" in October on the same year.

In addition, Block B who have a strong trouble-maker image have members with distinct personality and opinion which made problems as something to expect. However Block B on their 7th year have managed to pass the '7th year jinx' of idols without undergoing any major changes such as disbandment or member withdrawal like most idol groups, such image that Block B shown us till now is enough to surprise the public. Meanwhile their group image has also changed with each members activity expansion in different fields.

Their honesty took a huge part on the reason why Block B could go on for such a long time. Their official stated, "Block B members agreed to make clear their YES OR NO's from the beginning". They add, "I think the huge reason they could stay strong for long is the active communication the members have with the company, the members speaks everything they wish and not wish to do, also what they can't do in a clear line."

                                                                        

While Block B members do have strong personalities, it is true that being frank on expressing yourself is still not an easy things to do. Cases where unsaid words that are kept inside gets piled up and becomes a problem after is not an uncommon thing in the music industry. In other words, Block B were able to handle this point with more composure.
Another reason to their long run lies to how the members had experienced several problems at a young age that made them bond even more. In January of 2013, Block B sued for contract termination with their former label stardom, but eventually they had a new start with Seven Seasons. They were able to stick together without loosing a single member until now for facing the hardship together.
In terms of music, Block B have carved out their image as talented musicians. Along with this, they have broaden their area by doing well in variety shows, webdrama, musical, etc. as well as doing individual activities. They won't be able to have a long run if they move forward only with their 'Trouble Maker' image. It's their growth from being 'Trouble Makers' to 'A Must-Listen Musician' that made the now 7th year and running Block B.
